Q. Is it safe and suitable for all ages?
A. Yes, reiki is completely safe for everyone, young and old. Even newborns can benefit from reiki! It is suitable for people at any stage of life, including pregnancy.
Q. Will reiki interfere with medication/treatment from my doctor?
A. Reiki can be safely used alongside conventional medicine. Reiki is not meant to replace conventional healthcare but to complement it: please continue taking your medications. If you are worried, please speak to your GP and contact me if you have any questions.
Q. How long does a treatment take?
A. Approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, however, your first consultation will roughly take an additional 20 minutes as I will need to take your details and medical history.
Q. How many treatments will I need?
A. It depends on what is being treated. A one-off treatment may be all that is required if you just want to relax. More serious health concerns may require a course of weekly treatments. I can give recommendations during your first consultation.
Q. Is reiki a religion? Will it clash with my beliefs?
A. Reiki is simply a method of healing where the therapist transfers energy to the client. It is compatible with all faiths and religions and you do not have to believe or subscribe to any set of beliefs to give or receive reiki. The original founder of this healing modality in the early 1900s was influenced by the Shinto and Buddhist cultures of Japan but modern practitioners across the globe come from all different religious and cultural backgrounds.
Q. Do I need to remove my clothing?
A. No, you will remain fully clothed throughout the treatment, usually with a light blanket over you. For your own comfort I would recommend removing your shoes and coat, as well as any other accessories which may be in the way, such as your glasses.
Q. What happens if I fall asleep? Will it still work?
A. Yes, it will work whether you are awake or asleep. If you fall asleep I will take it as a compliment!
Q. How much do the treatments cost?
A. I charge £50 a session for adults and £25 for children under 12 (children must be accompanied by an adult). Cancellation fees apply if less than 24 hours notice is given. I charge an additional £5 for first treatments as I will take an extra 20 minutes to take a medical history and open up a new case file.
Q. How do I pay?
A. I accept cash and BACs payments. Please note that I do not have the facility to take credit and debit cards.
Q. What is your lineage?
A. My lineage is verified by the UK Reiki Federation: Dr Usui, Dr Hayashi, Mrs Takata, Phyllis Lei Furumoto and then 3 other masters before myself. My certification and detailed lineage is available upon request.
Q. Do you teach Reiki?
A. I am able to teach but not at present due to time constraints, however, please contact me to register your interest.
