FAQ

Q. How much do the treatments cost?

A. For Reiki I charge £60 a session for adults and £30 for children under 12 (children must be accompanied by an adult).

For Scar therapy (usually combined with Soft Tissue work) I charge £65. For children this is £30.

For Chakra rebalancing with crystals, reiki and meditation it is £60.

Cancellation fees apply if less than 24 hours notice is given.

Q. How do I pay?

A. I accept cash and BACs payments. Please note that I do not have the facility to take credit and debit cards.

Q. How long does a treatment take?

A. for Reiki: Approximately 45-60 minutes.

For Scar Massage therapy, the initial consultation will require around 60 minutes. Follow up appointments will be 30-45 minutes, depending on the scar.

Q. How many treatments will I need?

A. For Reiki it depends on what is being treated. A one-off treatment may be all that is required if you just want to relax. More serious health concerns may require a course of weekly treatments. I can give recommendations during your first consultation.

For Scar Massage therapy I typically recommend 4-6 treatments to begin with. After this some clients may need a monthly/bi-monthly maintenance session. We will discuss your personal requirements during the consultation.

Q. Are your treatments safe and suitable for all ages?

A. Reiki is completely safe for everyone, young and old. Even newborns can benefit from reiki! It is suitable for people at any stage of life, including pregnancy.

With Scar Massage and Soft Tissue therapy, some treatments may not be suitable or require adaptation especially if there is an unhealed injury. This will be determined on a case by case basis and will be discussed prior to booking. Scar massage is only suitable after scabs and open wounds have gone.

Q. Will reiki interfere with medication/treatment from my doctor?

A. Reiki can be safely used alongside conventional medicine. Reiki is not meant to replace conventional healthcare but to complement it: please continue taking your medications. If you are worried, please speak to your GP and contact me if you have any questions.

Q. Is reiki a religion? Will it clash with my beliefs?

A. Reiki is simply a method of healing where the therapist transfers energy to the client. It is compatible with all faiths and religions and you do not have to believe or subscribe to any set of beliefs to give or receive reiki. The original founder of this healing modality in the early 1900s was influenced by the Shinto and Buddhist cultures of Japan but modern practitioners across the globe come from all different religious and cultural backgrounds.

Q. Do I need to remove my clothing?

A. During a reiki treatment you will remain fully clothed throughout, usually with a light blanket over you. For your own comfort I would recommend removing your shoes and coat, as well as any other accessories which may be in the way, such as your glasses.

For Scar Massage therapy and Soft Tissue massage, clothing will need to be removed as appropriate, but the areas I am not working on will be covered with a towel or blanket. I will always respect your privacy and modesty.

Q. What happens if I fall asleep? Will it still work?

A. Yes, Reiki treatments will work whether you are awake or asleep. If you fall asleep I will take it as a compliment!

With Scar Massage you will probably not fall asleep, since we will continuously be discussing your treatment and you may be required to move around.

Q. What is your Reiki lineage?

A. My lineage is verified by the UK Reiki Federation: Dr Usui, Dr Hayashi, Mrs Takata, Phyllis Lei Furumoto and then 3 other masters before myself. My certification and detailed lineage is available upon request.

Q. Do you teach Reiki?

A. Yes! I am currently teaching reiki to level 1 students. No prior experience is required. Please contact me to arrange training at a time to suit you. For more information, see my page on reiki courses here.
